Recently I made up a tailor’s ham and sausage using the free pattern by Kristiann Boos available from Tilly and the Buttons. I used some of a vintage fabric that I picked up (for £1) while in Brighton. Given that it is a vintage fabric and a little more delicate I stabilised it with interfacing before sewing it together.
In order to personalise it and make it more unique I printed an image on the front of each. I especially like the little pig.
I also put some of the fabric to use making peg bags. These are based roughly on a Cath Kidston pattern from the book Sew. I modified the pattern – using French seams around the edges of the bags for extra strength in place of bias binding.

Thanks, I love it too and it was such a bargain. I was going to make a skirt out of it but didn’t dare as parts of the fabric are a bit delicate due to age. It’s perfect for small items though.

Oo very cute – I never thought of making my own tailors sausage, I might have to do that soon! x

Yeah it’s a nice quick project & I’ve already put them to good use. There are quite a few free patterns around.

It may be childish of me, but putting a picture of a sausage on the sausage, and having the words Taylor’s Sausage written on it makes me laugh in a slightly Carry On kind of way. Love the added detail on both!

Thank you. I couldn’t resist the silliness either!

The ham and sausage look great! What did you use for stuffing?

I used polyester toy stuffing – as long as you fill it really full it is firm enough.
