A Sewing & Knitting Blog, Made in Birmingham, England

About

me

Hi, I’m Charlotte. Thank you for visiting my blog, which records my various sewing, knitting, dyeing and other crafty projects.

Home

As you’ll have guessed from the title of my blog, I am based in England. I live with my partner Phil in Birmingham, in a little white house with a blue door.

I like to get involved and try out a range of crafts and am always keen to learn a new skill, but I am most at home with sewing, knitting and natural dyeing. I’m (very, very slowly) learning to spin and weave.

I’m a member of the Birmingham branch of the Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, and the National Association GPC. I organise regular evening meet-ups in Birmingham city centre (dates posted on social media with the tag #midlandssewcialists), the annual SewBrum meet-up, and am one of the organisers of The Sewing Weekender.

In my day job I work as a project manager at a university.

In addition to crafting, I love movies, music, modern art, theatre, travel, comics, and gaming. My favourite band will always be The Smiths, film (although there are many close seconds) is Billy Wilder’s The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, book is J.R. Ackerley’s My Father & Myself, and video game is SNES RPG Terranigma. I’ve been a vegetarian since junior school.

My blog logo was designed by Sarah Ray. See more of her work at www.sarahray.co.uk

Thank you for reading & do get in touch.

  7. Hello there,
I was put onto your site through a family member. You are Cal’s niece, yes? I am Chuck’s sister in law in Ontario.
I also am involved in the business of clothing, but for the stage.
    Glad to meet you here.
    Cheers,
    Terri

  8. Lovely blog Just stumbled across it early this morning. Love your Grace Dress so much that I … bought the shoes! Probably not your intent but it does show that we’re paying attention, in our own way. xx
